I was a bit disappointed with this episode. Not exactly sure what it was trying to convey. It did however provide more
of the backstory of Juliet and Ben (and the rest of the Others), as well as more proof of how devious Ben can be (and has been) in dealing with everyone (and
that really does mean everyone).
The two biggest shockers of the night (for me) was finding out that Juliet was having an affair with a married man, and
that Widmore (Penny's father) is the one looking for the island.
The Island therapist - Harper has a B#tch streak a mile wide (it stems from her horrendous soap opera name -- Harper Stanhope?) LOL!! From their first encounter, it's clear that Jules and Harper aren't BFF material. Their mutual dislike soon morphs into outright hatred when Jules begins an affair with Harper's husband, Goodwin.
Juliet & Ben - I've always thought Ben was one of the creepiest characters on TV, but "You're
mine" increased that about a million times. That was the creepiest thing I've ever heard him say. He will do anything to have Juliet. Kill her
ex-husband with a bus, send her lover to certain death (I really think that Ben "knew" that Goodwin would die). And now he'll go after Jack.
Damsel in Distress + Jack = Trouble. They just don't mix well.
Juliet & Jack - As fascinating a character as Juliet is, I still don't trust her one bit - too bad Jack does.
The kiss to me seemed more like an attempt for Jack to forget his frustration with Kate. I think in that moment, he's grateful to have a woman actually
express herself like that to him. However, the meta reason for their relationship in the first place is always going to point back to Jack and Kate. When
Jack says to Kate "you gonna tell me or are we gonna keep walking through the jungle like it doesn't matter?", it clearly refers to
her relationship with Sawyer. Jack believes she stayed for Sawyer, which really hurts him. And it matters to him because it affects his relationship with
Kate.
Daniel & Charlotte - My biggest problem with this episode was the wild goose hunt for those two. Why didn't they
just explain what they had to do? Why all of this sneaking away, beating Kate, beating Juliet...why not just say "Ya know what guys? Ben has a stockpile
of toxic nerve gas on a part of the island you STILL haven't discovered and we would like to stop him from using it on everyone." Then again,
something tells me that Daniel and Charlotte's mission was not "exactly" to save the people on the Island. I think it was more to neutralize
the enemy (Ben) for the upcoming re-occupation of the Island. Like sending in an advanced team to blow up the enemies weapons depot prior to a larger scale
invasion. Nothing more.
I was cracking up when Ben sauntered past Hurley and Sawyer, telling them oh so nonchalantly "see you for dinner". Light bulbs may be going off over Hurley and Sawyer's heads regarding Locke's immense stupidity.
And as for the man on the boat...I definitely think that it's Michael. I think the trailer gave it away. And if it is Michael, all I have to say is that I forgive him for killing Ana Lucia. I forgave him about five seconds after he did the deed (more like I praised him
), but I'm still not over what he did to Libby...
