I found some interesting tidbits in the magazines this weekend. I find it sad and hard to believe that this will be the last week for spoilers or articles about Manny.
In Soap Opera Digest, November29 issue in the Comings and Goings, where it is reported that "Manny" will leave Springfield together on November 22, there is a big smiling picture of Paul and Nancy from last year's Gathering with the cutline, "Stewart and St. Alban turn out the light." A couple of things stuck me about this. Referring to Danny and Michelle as "Manny" by a major magazine speaks to me of the supercouple status of this couple. The characters' names don't even have to be spelled out. The comment about turning out the light just might be what happens to GL when Paul and Nancy leave. Their departure may be one thing leading to the light turning out for good at GL, IMO.
In the Scorecard column:
REMARRIED
GUIDING LIGHT
Danny and Michelle Santos
Don't you love it?
The recap section for this week in SOD has the headline: DANNY AND MICHELLE REMARRY and is accompanied by a picture of them as the flashback to 2002. It was at the engagement party for Rick and Mel, the day after Danny spent the night on the couch. He has a tray of sandwiches and Michelle is reaching for them. Unfortunately the cutline doesn't match the picture. The cutline: Surprise Party: Marah and Tony threw Danny and Michelle a surprise
wedding at the Bauer barbecue.
From Soap Opera Weekly, November 29 issue, there is a picture of Paul and Nancy from the 2001 Emmys with the news they are leave Springfield November 22 and are referred to as fan faves. I've noticed the phrase, "fan faves" has been used repeatedly by the magazines since Paul and Nancy were let go.
In a column called The List: BABY TALK GL's Danny looked at his daughter and asked, "How friggin' cute is she?" What kind of #&@%$ language is that to use around a child?
There is a two-page color feature on the Sammy wedding complete with pictures. It is an interview with SG and SB. They talk about how much they have been working and long shooting days and how expensive it is to keep everyone there for a long shooting day. The wedding begins November 22, continues November 23, but viewers will not know if they ultimately wed until the following week.
Carolyn Hinsey's guest for Carolyn's Corner this week is Bradley Bell, executive producer and head writer for Bold and Beautiful. I thought this was a very interesting excerpt:
Carolyn: You're the only executive producer who admits something isn't working right away and changes course. Other bosses would give me a year's worth of an arugment: "That character is going to catch on!"
Brad: Oh, no. We bail quicky. You try to have a certain level of drama and if you don't reach it, you've got to move on.
