I think the young man playing Vic is doing an admirable job with the material given. I try to reserve judgment on a new actor until they've had time to get over the initial jitters and settle into the character, but I can tell that he's going to do well in the role. Which, frankly, amazes me considering Y&R has been guilty of horrible miscasting in the past. Maybe they just got lucky as they did with Daniel Goddard.

Admittedly, I'm not a longtime viewer of Y&R in comparison to some here, but even I see that they are seriously backtracking/rewriting the recent history of Victor, Jr. I mean, the way I remember things, Victor, Jr. was missing and Hope called Victor frantic, begging him to use his influence to find him. He was written as something of a flighty, erratic loser-type. And, reading between the lines, I got the sense that he was involved in drugs or something else nefarious and was on the run from some pretty bad people.

I only bring this up because this storyline was actually a big deal. Nick's plane had just crashed and he was missing and presumed dead. Victor, not wanting to lose another son, hopped on his jet and went to a foreign country (I'm blanking on the exact location) in search of his and Hope's son. It's the catalyst that tore apart Nikki and Victor's marriage. She felt neglected by Victor, both in her campaign for State Sentate, and in her grieving for Nick. It's what drove her into David's arms.

Now, listening to the dialogue exchanged between Sr. and Jr., it sounds like Victor, Jr. was simply traveling abroad before he put his MBA to use and joined a prestigious investment firm. Something isn't fitting.

Does anyone else remember this fairly recent storyline?

I think it's going to be interesting to see if Vic will change Victor or vice versa. Victor has two children who currently refuse to pledge allegiance to him because of his outlandish ruthlessness towards everyone (particularly Nikki). I think the dynamics between Vic and Nick/Victoria will be interesting.

I'm excited that Nikki and Nick/Jack and Victor will all be at the head of competing corporations. That should be fun. I'm less interested in Phyllis and Sharon's involvement than I am in watching Nick and Jack collaborate. I am just sick of watching them in the planning stages. I don't want to hear about that magazine again until it's actually up and running. The talk about their headquarters and the concept is redundant and boring.

I read somewhere that Vic is going to be drawn to Phyllis, which I think is really weird. Phyllis and Jack are where it's at for me, so I hope at some point there's a reconciliation in their future.
